Characteristics and properties of Bitcoin

Bitcoin is a virtual encrypted digital currency proposed by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008. It has the following characteristics and properties:

Virtual encryption: Ensuring the security and anonymity of transactions through encryption technology.
Decentralization: It is not controlled by traditional financial institutions such as governments or banks. Its issuance and transactions depend on the Internet and can be carried out anywhere in the world. It is characterized by decentralization, globalization and anonymity.
Total quantity limit: The total quantity is 21 million pieces, distributed in various mining areas, and the reserves are limited. At the beginning, miners were rewarded with 50 bitcoins for each mining area they discovered. However, for every 210000 “mining areas” generated, the number of bitcoins rewarded halved. It is expected that by 2140, all 21 million bitcoins will be issued.
Issuance method: Bitcoin is automatically generated by the system as a reward for miners to complete the issuance process. Miners use a series of algorithms to calculate hash values that meet the requirements, in order to obtain accounting rights. The miner who calculates the correct value first can package the Bitcoin transaction into a block and record it on the entire blockchain to receive the corresponding Bitcoin reward.
Application scenarios: Bitcoin is used in cross-border trade, payments, remittances, and other fields. It can be easily, cost effectively, and without limitations transferred to the other side of the earth, just like sending an email.
Transaction records: Bitcoin’s transaction records are open and transparent, using distributed ledger technology, and all transactions and account balances can be publicly viewed.
Development history: In 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto published a paper titled “Bitcoin: A Peer to Peer Electronic Cash System” on a cryptography forum. On January 3, 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto discovered the “genesis block” of Bitcoin, which is considered the initial generation of Bitcoin. Since then, the price of Bitcoin has experienced multiple fluctuations, and its popularity and usage have continued to expand. However, Bitcoin still faces some challenges and needs further development and improvement to meet a wider range of financial needs. For example, Bitcoin may not currently meet the needs of all financial transactions, and in China, Bitcoin is not a legal currency and legitimate merchants do not support this payment method.
