On January 22, according to the official website of the U.S. Department of Justice, crypto market maker CLS Global has agreed to resolve criminal charges related to its fraudulent manipulation of cryptocurrency trading volume.
As part of the criminal settlement, CLS Global will admit to the charges in the indictment filed by the Boston federal grand jury in September 2024, including one count of conspiracy to commit market manipulation and wire fraud, and one count of wire fraud. If the court approves its guilty plea, CLS Global will also pay a total of $428,059 to the U.S. government, including seized cryptocurrencies and fines, and will be banned from participating in the U.S. cryptocurrency market.
CLS Global is a company registered in the UAE that employs more than 50 employees, all of whom are located outside the United States, but provide cryptocurrency-related services to investors in the United States.
