European Central Bank Management Committee: It is expected that the interest rate of the European Central Bank will be lowered to 2% by the autumn of this year

On January 3rd, according to the transcript released by the Greek central bank on Thursday, the European Central Bank’s governing committee and Greek central bank president, Stournaras, told Skai Radio in Greece that “the European Central Bank’s benchmark interest rate should be lowered to around 2% around autumn 2025.” He stated that this forecast would still be affected by “unforeseeable circumstances” and mentioned risk factors in Europe and the United States.
Economists and investors believe that as inflation stabilizes at the 2% target, the European Central Bank will cut interest rates at every meeting before mid-2025, and the region’s economy is struggling.
