On January 24, BlockWorks reported that Liam Heeger announced yesterday that he had left Jump Crypto (while working on Solana’s Firedancer client) and founded a company called Unto Labs, which will build a high-performance Layer-1 blockchain.

Jump filed a lawsuit against Heeger on Tuesday, accusing the former employee of violating a non-compete agreement when he founded Unto. According to the lawsuit, Heeger, who was the chief software engineer at Firedancer, partially violated the non-compete agreement by raising venture capital funds for Unto at the Solana Breakpoint conference while still employed by Jump.
